    A blast of heavy rain sent landslides barrelling through South Korea's capital and a northern town on Wednesday, killing at least 32 people, including 10 college students doing volunteer work. The heavy rain also left about 620 people homeless and flooded 720 houses and about 100 vehicles throughout South Korea, the National Emergency Management Agency said in a statement.

    These amazing pictures from the United States show a wall of dust moving through the city of Phoenix in Arizona. Sandstorms like this happen during the region's monsoon season, which is underway. They occur over desert land and can reach thousands of feet into the air, spurred by strong winds. The dense cloud dramatically reduced visibility, grounding flights at a major airport and leaving thousands without electricity.

    Two wild elephants went on a rampage in southern India, trampling one person to death and injuring 3. They entered the town from a nearby forest, and charged at people, livestock and vehicles. They were eventually shot with tranquilisers and captured. Officials blame human encroachment on the elephants habitat, forcing them into urban areas in search of food.
